Robert B. Rowling Hall, McCombs School of Business

The University of Texas at Austin

This cutting-edge academic building is designed to support interaction and collaboration among students, faculty, staff, alumni, recruiters, interdisciplinary collaborators, and business leaders. Interaction between the business school and the adjacent conference center requires the lighting to support a complex program while ensuring that visitors can easily find their way within the multifaceted facility. Selectively placed decorative elements create a sparkling “geode” façade, and luminous cylindrical elements within the lobby continue to an exterior plaza designed for game day events. Conservation-minded energy goals and facilities maintenance standards are guiding the design to use the latest in lighting technology.
