Medical Centers

Medical Center facilities often contain a diverse mix of specialties, services and programs - patient care, education, research and community outreach. This blend of functions and users can result in the most challenging facilities to design. The engineered systems in these facilities require complex mechanical, electrical, piping/plumbing and information technology systems that won't compromise the patient or the life-altering research conducted at the center.

The Medical Center client and its facilities have specialty equipment and space needs with very unique requirements. PET imaging, NMRs, MRIs, electron microscopy and BSL labs often require specific engineered systems that support their safe use now and allow for future flexibility as technology evolves.

Collaboration with the owner during the early stages of design ensures just the correct mix of adaptability, first cost, operational complexity and safety. This type of technically complex design is the core of Affiliated Engineers' practice and we embrace the inherent challenges. Our engineers and designers delve into the intricate details of the facility's systems and design them to meet the client's unique project goals. This level of expertise has allowed Affiliated Engineers to design state-of-the-art Medical Center facilities across the country.
