Cornell Climate Action Plan developed by AEI, CAP website launched. Marking the release of Cornell University's Climate Action Plan, developed by AEI, the firm has created a dynamic website for Cornell. The site details the organization and strategies of the plan and will be used by Cornell to publish their progress.
Recommended actions in the plan will help Cornell improve the energy efficiency of its facilities, reducing operating expenses and realizing savings otherwise subject to commodity fuel cost fluctuation, projected
carbon legislations, and potential capital expenditure.
On, September 15, roughly 400 colleges submitted climate action plans, part of fulfilling their obligations as signatories to the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment. As a charter signatory, Cornell University assumed a leadership position in transitioning to a net-zero carbon future, documenting a process for other institutions to follow and developing a model applicable to municipalities and public and private entities seeking to undertake long-term strategic carbon management initiatives.
AEI developed Cornell's Climate Action Plan by coordinating the participation of Cornell experts, focus groups, and campus and community stakeholders, then generating and technically evaluating the benefits and drawbacks of carbon reduction ideas in five major categories: Energy Conservation (existing buildings), Green Development (new buildings), Fuel Mix (fossil alternatives and renewables), Transportation, and Energy Offsets.
We invite you to explore the Cornell Climate Action Plan website and revisit it regularly to see what's been done, what is being done, and what is being explored to do next. If we can provide further information concerning any of the strategies or technologies you see, or about carbon management and climate action planning, please feel free to contact us.
