MADISON, WI – Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) Sustainable Practice Leader Michael R. Walters, PE, LEED® AP, has been named to Consulting-Specifying Engineer’s “40 Under 40” list, honoring building industry engineers under the age of 40 distinguished by academic, professional, personal, and community achievement. Walters is profiled with the other honorees in the current issue of the magazine and on its website, www.csemag.com/40under40.
“At a very young age, Mike began defining our firm's distinct place in the world of sustainable design as conceptualists, verifiers, and implementers,” said AEI principal David Odegard, who nominated Walters for the honor. “A visionary with technical expertise, personal passion, and professional decisiveness, he mentors the next generation in our field as a University of Wisconsin-Madison adjunct professor.”
In naming Walters to the list, Consulting-Specifying Engineer highlights his role on the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, leading the sustainable design initiatives for the five-million sf LEED® Gold campus in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia. Walters is currently the project manager on the Cornell University Climate Action Plan, a standard-setting project with the ultimate goal of carbon neutrality.
