Masdar Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company - Headquarters
Planned by Sir Norman Foster, Masdar is a new city developed within Abu Dhabi to demonstrate a zero net energy, waste, and carbon urban environment. The Headquarters building is the heart of the city; eleven daylighted wind cones are the heart of the headquarters.
Pivotal collaborated closely with AS+GG architects to analyze and refine facades and building structures to maximize available daylight utilization while minimizing glare and solar heat gain.
A combination of daylight, task ambient lighting strategies, the latest light source technologies, and deliberate design for human vision result in a high quality visual environment with a connected lighting load of approximately 6 watts per square meter. Advanced lighting controls will serve to minimize operational lighting load to 3-4 watts per square meter.
