Columbia St. Mary’s Facilities Integration and Expansion
Ascension health

Combining two hospitals, creating a national flagship.

The consolidation of Milwaukee's Columbia and St. Mary's hospitals is a Pebble Project, focused on creating an improved healing environment by controlling potential sources of stress to patients and their families.
At the same time, the newly regional purview of the combined hospitals makes the new 835,000 sf complex a significant pandemic event resource.  The world-class facility features a decentralized air handling approach that allows smaller zone control, readily accommodating surge capacity for negative pressure room isolation. The system is supported by maintenance access to engineered systems without disrupting patients and other clinical function.  Flexible integrated structured cable plant design includes support for voice, video, data, telemetry, infant protection, clinical data, physiological monitoring, and wireless devices.
