“The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is not only perhaps the largest healthcare project ever delivered in a BIM platform, it illustrates a significant BIM success.”

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago
Where kids come first—sooner with BIM. By coordinating validation of systems for the new 1.2M sf Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago facility in BIM, AEI will reduce time required for the process by 50-75% and achieve more coordinated and more serviceable systems. Lurie Children’s is ranked number one in almost every major pediatric specialty and serves over 110,000 children each year. Opening in 2011, the new 24-story Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago building will provide 288 beds, 22 ORs (4 hybrid), expandable imaging facilities, offices that convert into additional patient rooms, and a fully flexible clinical BSL-3 laboratory. AEI's role began in pre-design, identifying opportunities for incorporating compatibility, efficiency, and flexibility into the design. Mock-up rooms for natal and pediatric ICUs, acute care, trauma, and ambulatory care facilitated staff input on patient scenarios and optimal technology and utility configurations.
From the client: “You’ve put together probably the best design team I have ever worked with and I don’t want to tell you how many years that covers. Sometimes it’s easy for me to rag on the things that go wrong and not highlight all of the things that go right and there is a boatload of things that go right.”
