“Evolving functional requirements of a client’s newly acquired subsidiary and changing zoning limits in an urban setting are not, in and of themselves, unique. Successfully staying ahead of them on a fast track schedule takes some doing.”

Bioinformatics Research Laboratory Stepping into the middle of a complicated fast track. AEI's role on this 133,000 sf genomic research and data analysis facility began with the shell and core already under construction, issuing changes to the fast-track project's design to make certain MEP systems necessary for carefully programmed lab spaces were cast into the building. Merck Rosetta's requirements called for cleanroom spaces, biology research lab space with provisions for robotic processes, an integrated data center with N+1 redundancy, and dual power distribution. AEI collaborated with city officials to design mechanical systems that comply with transitional neighborhood zoning requirements without compromising necessary research equipment. The facility incorporates an advanced building automation system, enabling operators to use a single computer based interface to coordinate, organize, and optimize building systems.
