“The successes on Seattle Children’s Bellevue didn’t happen by themselves but by concerted effort. A collaborative project team worked together to identify ways to streamline the design process and took responsibility for all stages of design and construction. Fewer than 35 RFIs is a metric I’ll stand by.”

bellevue clinic and surgery center
As part of an Integrated Project Delivery team, AEI helped complete the 75,000 sf Seattle Children’s Hospital, Bellevue Clinic and Surgery Center with minimal Requests for Information and three months ahead of schedule. Performing extensive lifecycle energy modeling services, AEI verified strategies to reduce the facility’s energy consumption by 50% and secured a $500,000 utility rebate, representing an 87% return on related premium costs. Seattle Children’s is the leading children’s healthcare and pediatric center for the Pacific Northwest. The LEED® Gold certified Bellevue Clinic offers services in 15 pediatric specialties, including adolescent medicine, cardiology, sports medicine, and orthopedics. The facility also contains three operating rooms for outpatient surgery and radiology services. In addition to an energy-saving turbo COR chiller for which AEI energy modelers verified lifecycle cost benefit, other energy conservation measures include variable air volume air-handling units, high-efficiency boilers and water heaters, daylight dimming controls, and lighting controls with occupancy sensors.
